How to Store Wigs

Wig Stand. Wig stands are an excellent option for storage. Ideal for storing wigs short-term (or long-term), they don’t take up a lot of space and help maintain the hairstyle between uses. Wig Head. Mannequin heads are another great storage option for your wigs. Not only are they built similarly to your head but are great at maintaining the style and  shape of your wig. Pro Tip: Mannequin heads do take up space, so make sure you have a section you can dedicate to it in your home. 

Silk or Satin Bag. Silk or satin wig storage bags help keep the wig fibers intact and minimize frizzing and tangling. When stored in a silk/satin bag, your wig will stay soft and silky and not retain moisture. We recommend using Amy Gibson’s ResQ bag for storage. Also great for traveling! Pro Tip: When you store short wigs, they should be folded inside out and in half for easy storage. To prepare long wigs for storage, also fold them inside out and in half with the longer fibers wrapping around your cap.

Wig Hangers. If you have multiple wigs or less space in your home, wig hangers are a perfect solution. You can either hang up your wigs on hooks mounted to a wall or purchase special hangers made specifically for wigs.

Storage Box or Original Packaging Box. For longer term storage, you can place your wig in a storage box or its original packaging box. To retain its style, lay the wig flat in the box and avoid creasing. Store the box in a cool, dry place to help preserve your wig.
